Sarah's Law
nears 700,000
Only few weekends
left for signature gathering
As of Friday March 6, the signatures in and counted for Sarah's Law reached 698,775.
Sarah's Law will require that a doctor notify at least one family member before
performing an abortion on an under-18-year-old girl.
Sarah's Law backers must collect 1.1 million signatures to get on the November California ballot.
According to Sarah's Law backers, the turn-in rate will accelerate in these last
few weeks.
So anyone with completed petitions is urged send in as soon as possible.
(For some churches Palm Sunday (March 16) and Easter Sunday (March 23) will be off
limits for petition circulating.)
If you know of a church which has not collected signatures, urge them to do so and
turn in quickly.

Who
is Sarah? A reminder:
"Sarah" was a 15 year old girl who became pregnant.
Without her parent's consent or notice, Sarah visited a clinic and the abortionist
performed an abortion on Sarah, unknowingly tearing the right side of her cervix.
Unaware of this complication, Sarah suffered blood poisoning, fever, chills, abdominal
pain and nausea for four days before finally being admitted to the hospital.
When hospital personnel discovered the tear and post-abortion infection, they placed
Sarah in the Intensive Care Unit, but the infection was too far advanced and Sarah
died.
Hospital physicians reported that had Sarah received prompt medical care, she would
still be alive
today.
Sarah's parents did not know that she was pregnant. Sarah's parents didn't know
that Sarah had an abortion. Her parents could have saved her, if they had known.
(This synopsis was taken from the Americans United for Life (AUL) "Defending Life
2007" publication. Sarah is not her real name. She is a minor so the courts assigned
the name Sarah to protect her identity. )
