Proposition 4 responds to critics' objection September 23, 2008 For the third time
in four years, voters will find on their November ballot a proposition to require
notification to parents if an underage girl seeks an abortion and a wait of up to
48 hours before proceeding. For the third time, it includes numerous exceptions
to that requirement....
LA Times EDITORIAL - Proposition 4 protects girls
Once again, California voters will be given the opportunity to vote on an initiative
-- Proposition 4 -- that would require family involvement when a girl under the
age of 18 is facing a decision about abortion. And once again, opponents are using
scare tactics to prevent Californians from protecting our daughters...
Contra Costa Times EDITORIAL - Parents should be informed
The only major medical procedure a teenage girl can have without her parents' knowledge
is an abortion. A teen cannot go to a tanning salon, get a body piercing or even
get an aspirin from the school nurse without her parents being informed. The Contra
Costa Times did not tell readers that crucial fact when it editorialized against
Prop. 4.
